They released an EP (2017) and a first full album, NowHere (2019) and are currently working on the second record. Nagløed unites jazz, pop and film music in a blend of floating layers. With a mix of guitars, Rhodes, drums and electronics, the band creates intimate moods through stills and open compositions. Yet, they are equally capable of introducing the grooviest of vibes, combined with some vocals and soulful chords. These three gentlemen explore the many possibilities of their setup together in symbiosis. Creating a fragile universe with a profound, pulsing vibe underneath. During their live performances, they provide you with the essence of what music means to them: a world of sounds where you become wonderfully lost. Andreas Lagrou on drums and samples Dillian Fevry on guitar, vocals and synths Matthias Dewilde on rhodes, synths and loops Matterhorn Well started recording their first improvisations as sketches for future compositions for a photo exhibition by Francis Vanhee. Gradually, they discovered that free improvisations worked better, live as well as in the following soundtrack assignments. January 2023 will mark the release of this duo’s first album: Sketches For Francis. Matterhorn Well goes in search of a unity of sound and texture, both in the tenuous depths and heights, by fusing rhodes and cello through various techniques. Where chance and arbitrariness form the basis for a pure sensitive experience, searching for a reality that can transcend our own. Although the two musicians were longtime friends, it still took until 2023 for the two to begin “playing” together, stimulated by a shared interest in sound, texture and transformation. A series of improvisation sessions and some tasteful performances (including at the Ghent Citadelic festival) followed, which only stimulated the hunger for more. Slowly the idea grew to translate the energy and excitement of those jams into a record.
